Israel claims video shows hostages in Al-Shifa hospital

The Israeli military says this is clear proof that Gaza's largest hospital was a hub for Hamas. Officials released videos which they say shows a hostage from Nepal and another from Thailand taken to al-Shifa a few hours after the October 7th massacres began. They say Hamas gunmen brought them to al-Shifa in an Israeli military jeep. Another edited video shows what officials say is a sophisticated 55-meter-long tunnel leading towards the hospital with a door designed to withstand explosions and a hole militants can fire through. The truth is clear. Hamas wages war from hospitals, wages terror from hospitals. Hamas has denied that allegation and has said it took hostages to the hospital for medical treatment. Videos which cannot be verified by CBC News have been released by Israel amid an international outcry after its special forces raided al-Shifa. A team from the World Health Organization described the facility as a death zone after a brief visit. Thirty-one premature babies were moved out of al-Shifa today. Two others died just hours before the evacuation. The youngest victims of a war they were simply born into. Some appear barely on the edge of life. Doctors said there was not enough clean water at al-Shifa to mix the formula and some of the babies suffered from vomiting and diarrhea. The cases arrived to us complaining of hypothermia, hyperglycemia and a lot of cases are septic. It's expected that Monday the infants will be moved to Egypt. Israel's government is vowing to continue its war on Hamas but more than two million people living in Gaza are caught up in it and for most there's no way out. The UN agency that works in Gaza says in the past six weeks 176 people sheltering in their facilities have been killed. This weekend two of its schools were hit. Most of the video of the aftermath is too horrific to show. Every day they're like this is the worst day of my life and then the next day is even worse. Shada Lowe is with the Norwegian Refugee Council. The humanitarian organization has more than 50 staff in Gaza. How many innocent people have to die? Seventy, sixty-five, seventy percent of these people are women and children. Every time we can't reach our colleagues in Gaza we wonder if they are victims too. Israel has warned people in southern Gaza to move further west as it gets set to launch more strikes and a ground operation which will undoubtedly make the unfolding humanitarian crisis even worse. Officials say there's not enough food, water or fuel but now plenty of rain which makes already dismal living conditions that much worse.
