At least 18 people are dead and five missing from flash floods and landslides across Bali and East Nusa Tengarra in the worst flooding disaster to hit the popular tourist island in 70 years.

Bali has experienced severe flash flooding following days of heavy rain, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 people and leaving 10 others missing. The floods have devastated more than 110 neighbourhoods, causing buildings to collapse and major disruptions to transport, including access to Denpasar airport. 

While the floods have affected many residents and caused significant damage to homes and businesses, there are no reports of Australian casualties. The Indonesian army has been deployed to assist with clean-up operations, and relief efforts are underway as the community begins to recover.

Up to 15 people have been killed, 10 more are missing. This woman says three of her best friends died here yesterday. The torrents tore through more than 110 neighbourhoods, the force of the flash flooding causing this building to crumble into the water below. Arterial roads to Denpasar airport were cut off by rising waters, causing major delays to holidaymakers. Approximately one and a half million Aussies visit Bali each year, 10,000 live there long term. So far, it doesn't appear any Australians have been killed. Dennis Jungman from Perth was caught in a downpour. The road started flooding and then there was a traffic jam and we were basically following Balinese people on the way up north through side roads to maybe avoid some flooding. The army has been called in for the clean-up, shoveling mud and removing rubble from one of Denpasar's oldest and largest traditional markets. Hundreds of people's homes were damaged, also kiosks and small shop fronts in the market. More than 470 units. Food and supplies have also been brought in as the community cleans, grieves and gets back on its feet. Paris Martin, 10 News.
