The situation escalated when demonstrators breached barricades and surrounded the parliament building, leading to a forceful response from security forces, including the use of tear gas, water cannons, and live ammunition. Hospitals reported dozens of injuries, and authorities imposed a curfew around key government sites following the violence.

Protesters breached barbed wire barricades and surrounded the parliament building, forcing riot police to retreat before security forces responded with tear gas, water cannons and eventually live fire. Hospitals across the city reported treating dozens of wounded. The government has imposed a curfew around key government sites.
