We visited a different building used by the group in 2023, to interview another senior leader, Moussa Abu Mazouk. Hamas did their duty. Qatar is a vital US partner, and a mediator in ceasefire talks. It condemned the attack on its soil as criminal. Who is going to accept, on the Hamas side, any deal? Gonan Ben Yitzhak is a former Israeli intelligence officer. He accuses Israel's Prime Minister of deliberately attempting to derail negotiations with the strike, because he wants to continue the war in Gaza. Do you think at this point Benjamin Netanyahu cares what the United States thinks about this strike? Netanyahu feels that right now he can do whatever he wants. Family members of hostages also criticised the attack. Udi Goren says he wants Hamas punished, but not if it means he never recovers the body of his cousin. I have no pity for them. I don't want to see them killed. I want to see everybody signing a deal that brings all hostages back. Holly, as we try to understand this, Israel drops bombs in the territory of a US ally. For our viewers who thought we were all on the same side, this is very striking. What's going on here? Well, so Israel and Qatar are both US allies. So I guess, what does it mean for American leadership if one of them carries out a strike on the other's territory, seemingly with impunity? And I think for some in the Middle East, this will look as if the United States, which for decades has been known as the world's policeman, no longer has the same power or influence that it once did.
