A widespread heatwave is impacting the Northeastern United States, with actual temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s in many areas. Major cities including New York, Boston, and others along the I-95 corridor are expected to experience higher 'feels like' temperatures, with some locations potentially setting record warm overnight lows. The heat is shifting from cities like Chicago and Detroit towards the Northeast, intensifying conditions for residents in the region. The Weather Channel notes that the heatwave is expected to persist through the weekend, with little relief in sight.

Temperatures, actual thermometer readings will be in the mid to upper 90s for the majority of us. I think Dallas could actually hit triple digits, Charleston 88, New York 86. So okay, it doesn't seem too bad. But again, let's combine the feels like temperature and take a look at several locations. I got Chicago, Detroit in the triple digits. I'm going to circle both of your locations for a second. And I'm also going to circle New York and DC. One of the reasons I want to do that is because you're going to see these numbers shift big time going into tomorrow. Notice places like Chicago, Detroit go down as we head into the next 24 hours. But New York and DC go way up. So that heat is going to shift a little bit and go towards the I-95 corridor and really bake the Northeast, the Big Apple, Boston and much of New England. And that's one of the reasons why we're going to be looking at warm record overnight lows in some of these areas across I-95. Again, I wish we could see some yellow on this map or green or just a different color than red. But no, the red is expanding. It's getting so red that we can't get any darker than red. And it does look like as we look at our dew point temperatures, we're going to have another toasty one throughout the weekend.
