Felix Baumgartner, the first skydiver to exceed the speed of sound, has died following a paragliding crash on the eastern coast of Italy. Baumgartner, known as 'Fearless Felix,' gained international recognition in 2012 when he jumped from a helium balloon 24 miles above New Mexico, breaking the sound barrier in a pressurized suit. 

The incident occurred when his paraglider crashed into the side of a swimming pool. Baumgartner was 56 years old at the time of his death.
