What did you make of that wildly dramatic finish at Lourdes? It was sensational, wasn't it? I mean, the thing about that, if you look at the slow-mo replay, I saw the VT as we went to the break there. Poor old Mohamed Siraj actually middles the ball. He got right behind the line, the number 11, blocked the ball right off the middle of the bat and it went down into his crease and the spin that Bashir put on it rolled back into his stumps. It was so freakish, you could not have scripted it. And frankly, the way that India were batting, the way the ball was behaving, there's been a lot of chat about the way the ball has really died. The hardness of the ball goes out after about 30 overs and this was into the 70-odd over. It was like bowling with a sponge for England. So it was, at that point, they were getting a little bit desperate. They needed something freakish and Bashir produced it. It was an incredible finish, one of the most extraordinary I've ever seen in my life. Yeah, a twist of fate, you might say. Incredible scenes. It really was an epic finale, the sports spiritual home. How inspirational a performance was that, do you feel, from England skipper Ben Stokes? Well, it was extraordinary. I mean, one of the things about Ben Stokes is he's been this spiritual leader of the baseball revolution for three years. But for a lot of that time, he's not been able to bowl for various reasons. He's been injured, he's had dodgy knees, he tore his hamstring several times. And, you know, you did start to wonder after up to a point that did he still have this sort of performance in him? I mean, you know, he's getting on. Age comes to all athletes, but spirit never dies, I suppose. And he produced this indomitable performance that he decided, I'm the man, I'm the only guy. As I said, this ball is old. This is a hopeless ball that doesn't actually produce much for anyone. I'm going to do the dirty hard overs here. And, you know, there was a lot was made about Joffre Archer's comeback as well. Joffre Archer back in England team for the first time in four years. And the pair of them, I mean, extraordinarily, bowling England to victory on six years to the day since the pair of them were the star players in England's World Cup final victory over New Zealand. Yeah, to the very day, to the very day. Incredible. To the very day. Speak to the rivalry between these two sides, because the rivalry is getting pretty intense. What do you make of it all? I love it. I think there's an awful lot you can get in. Nick is in a twist a little bit about the handbags and the verbals and all the spice flying around. But think of it, put it on the other hand. Would we be more bothered if they didn't care? I think we'd be far more bothered if these teams did not go at each other into their faces getting fine 15% match fees for shoulder barges. I love it. I would much rather see two teams going hammer and tongs at each other, knowing that this is the most important match they will ever play in their lives than going through the motions thinking this is just another payday. I can't fault the passion that I've seen. I think it's been wonderful. And we've got two more tests of it. I can't wait. And they head to Manchester next week. Can't wait for that one. All right. In Jamaica, Australia sweeping the Windies a 3-0 series victory after bowling out the hosts for just 27. What were you thinking there as you watch Mitchell Stark's sensational bowling performance? Well, I was thinking, I'll tell you what I was thinking. When that first wicket fell, first ball of the innings, I thought, oh my God. I mean, it was perfect. Mitchell Stark is this extraordinary, freakish left arm seamer, six foot six, angles the ball back into the right handers. And if he gets it right, it's almost unplayable. We've seen this before with him. He gets on a roll and you think, oh God, he's in one of those moods. And with the pink ball in particular, something about, I mentioned the balls earlier, but the balls, it does matter what type of ball you're bowling with sometimes. The pink ball is particularly difficult to face. I don't know why it behaves slightly differently to the red ball or the white ball. But if you get a bowler who knows what to do with the pink ball, you're in for trouble. And so when it was 0 for 1, then 0 for 2, then 0 for 3 in that first error, I was already scrolling through, through Crick and Voza stats to see, you know, what's the lowest score? I knew it was 26, but they beat it by one. So it's a pure victory there. But, you know, and then Scott Bowling gets a hat trick. I mean, you know, it wasn't just Stark, it was Bowling Magic that ball. Just for good measure, a hat trick. This is devastating, though, for the West Indies. Where do they go from here? Well, we get morose about the West Indies on a regular basis, but we have to just remember that, you know, they do come together. They do find a way to find a spirit and just win. I mean, you know, it's not so long ago that they beat England head only in 2017. They beat England in the World Cup final and the T20 World Cup final in 2016. They beat Australia in the previous match, a Brisbane test match, when Shemar Joseph bowled like the wind. And, you know, no one ever wins at Brisbane. West Indies came in and did it. And, you know, we can get morose about the fact that they're not the team they used to be in the 1980s and 1990s. But I think cricket spends too much time apologizing for itself. I think you should probably just look at the fact that West Indies were bowled out by a sensational performance from Australia. And they can come again. They will come again. They may never be the force they were once, but they're still a team that has passion and pride. And I suspect they'll be peaked into a better performance from this.
