Demonstrators have been targeting two businesses here for the last year, but decided to take their protests to the next level because the board of directors that oversees the Brooklyn Navy Yard was meeting, and the situation in the Gaza Strip has become unbearable. This is a former base for the U.S. Navy that was decommissioned years ago and turned into an industrial site. It's now home to two businesses that supply the Israeli military, one with drones, the other with uniforms. They're called Easy Aerial and Cry Precision. Activists want them to leave. Brooklyn Navy Yard is city-owned land. These companies receive tax breaks, along with other financial incentives, while making weapons. And as a New Yorker, I don't feel like my tax dollars should be going towards weapons manufacturers. Since this campaign started, they have not tried to hide behind supply chain arguments, saying, oh, I just make the drones, I don't put the weapons on them. Oh, I just make the design, I don't send that design to Gaza. Shame on you. We have the receipts. We know who you are. We know what you do. At one point, they blocked entrance to the parking lot here, and eight people were arrested. Demonstrators were hoping to speak directly with members of the board, but at the last minute the public comment section of the meeting was canceled.
