A YouGov survey conducted in five European Union countries found that most French, German, Polish, and Spanish citizens support using frozen Russian assets to provide financial aid to Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict. However, Italian respondents are closely divided, with nearly equal numbers supporting and opposing the measure. 

The survey also highlights varying opinions within each country regarding the overall level of support for Ukraine, and shows that the European Commission is urging Belgium to approve a reparations loan for Ukraine, as most frozen Russian assets are held in Brussels. Support for Ukraine's potential NATO membership is highest among Spaniards, with other surveyed nations showing moderate backing.

How much does Europe support using frozen Russian money to help Ukraine's defence? French, German, Polish and Spanish citizens still believe it's right to give financial support to Ukraine as Russia's invasion rages on. However, Italy proves the exception as Italians are closely divided on the issue, with 43% supporting and 40% opposing it. This is according to a YouGov survey conducted in five EU countries with more than 5,000 people. There is also a division within each country over whether the level of support given to Ukraine is too little, too much or about right. Germany is among the five EU countries with a higher share of respondents believing there's too much support at 34%, while 36% of Poland claim it's the right amount. The European Commission has pushed for Belgium to agree to an unprecedented reparations loan for Ukraine, which has the government worried because most of the assets are held in Brussels. The majority of Polish, German and Spanish correspondents support using frozen Russian funds in European bank accounts to fund additional support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, Italians are once again divided in their opinions, with 39% supporting it and 38% opposing it. When it comes to NATO, Russia wants to prohibit Ukrainian membership, while Europe won't rule it out. Among EU countries surveyed, Spaniards are the most in favour of Ukraine joining, while others are supportive by more narrow margins, with between 42% and 47% backing Ukrainian membership.
