Palestinians who have fled northern Gaza say they're hoping a deal can be reached soon and that they can return to their homes. More than a million people have been forcibly displaced throughout the war, and don't know if their houses are still standing.

Palestinians who have been forcibly displaced from northern Gaza to other areas are expressing cautious optimism as they await a possible ceasefire. Many have established makeshift camps on the ruins of destroyed residential blocks, citing a lack of space elsewhere and a desire to be closer to their original homes in Gaza City. 

Individuals like Abu Mohammed, who was displaced from al-Sha'af in Gaza City, are counting the minutes to return home and reunite with family members detained by Israeli forces. Despite knowing that their homes have been destroyed, many displaced families hope a ceasefire will allow them to return, take a breath, and begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

There is a state of cautious hope among Palestinians, especially those who were forcibly displaced in the past couple of weeks from the northern parts of the Gaza Strip to the southern and the middle areas. Now, we're currently in the western parts of Nusayrat, and this is a new makeshift camp where Palestinians pitched their tents on top of a complete residential block that was destroyed by the Israeli forces. We see the rubbles of the family's home here. But Palestinians pitched their tents here for two reasons. The first one is they did not find space in al-Mawasi and other areas. And the second thing is because they wanted to be closer to the Gaza City and they wanted to return quicker to the Gaza City and to the northern parts of the Gaza Strip. Here we're with Mr. Abu Mohammed, where he was displaced, forcibly displaced, from al-Sha'af area in the Gaza City, and he has been telling us how he's waiting, counting the minutes to return back to the Gaza City. We are waiting. We were happy that Hamas agreed to the plan, and we look forward to going home soon. Mohammed won't only go back to his neighborhood, but he will also hope to reunite with his son, Mohammed, that was arrested by the Israeli forces, and he's currently in Ofer prison. This is one of the stories of Palestinians and why they're waiting for a ceasefire. Most of these Palestinian families know that they do not have any houses to go back to. They do not have anything back where the Israeli forces have been wiping out Palestinians' residential blocks and neighborhoods. But at least they will have time to take a breath and start rebuilding Gaza.
