This attack comes amid ongoing intense fighting in Gaza's northern region, particularly around the Jabalia refugee camp. Since the start of May, Israel has resumed military operations in the north, despite declaring an end to major offensives in January.

In addition to the central Gaza strike, Israeli forces are making advances in the southern city of Rafa. The conflict has led to the displacement of over 800,000 people in the past two weeks. These displacements have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, with many people fleeing to areas lacking essential services like water and sanitation. The UN has called for increased humanitarian aid and the reopening of road crossings to facilitate larger-scale deliveries, noting that current efforts are insufficient.

On Saturday, Israel conducted additional airstrikes that resulted in several casualties and numerous injuries. The wounded were transported to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. The UN has emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian assistance, with more than 300 pallets of aid dispatched recently through a newly built US pier.

According to the UN, they have mostly fled to areas without water supplies or adequate sanitation, which experts say just goes to demonstrate the growing need for humanitarian aid. More than 300 pallets were sent out on Saturday, using this newly built US pier. The UN says it's still not enough. They're calling for road crossings to be opened in order to allow larger scale deliveries.
