Millions of people across the Plains and Midwest are feeling the fall chill on Friday with temperatures 15 to 25 degrees below average! The cooler air will finally spill south and east this weekend, dropping temperatures across the Tennessee Valley, Northeast and mid-Atlantic.

A cold front is moving south across the United States, bringing cooler air to regions including Nebraska, Kansas, and as far south as Dallas. Cities such as Wichita and St. Louis are expected to experience notably lower temperatures, with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. Some locations, like Milwaukee, may approach record cold high temperatures that date back to the late 1800s. The cooler air is also expected to lower humidity, making conditions more comfortable for many residents. The boundary between the cooler and warmer air will be evident, with coastal areas still experiencing some warmer, beach-friendly conditions.

Cooldown arrives this weekend for Northeast, Mid-Atlantic

The cold air is starting to sag South, getting South of I-80. Nebraska, I'm talking about you. Going down into Kansas, Wichita only topping out at 67. So that'll be very nice. With your cool down on the horizon, St. Louis will be beautiful at 72. So now we're gonna be talking about record cold, high temperatures. I mean, we're talking about some of these records going back to 1896 before places like Arizona and New Mexico were even a state in the Union, okay? I don't know if we'll break it in Milwaukee at 62, but we're gonna get pretty close with that record cold high of 61 that goes back to the 1800s. All right, so there's your cold frontal boundary. It is on the move, sliding South and East, and yes, going all the way down into the Gulf. So Dallas, I mentioned to you earlier, you're gonna get that relief, not only from temperatures, but from the humidity as well. It's gonna be very enjoyable. Tomorrow morning, notice we starting to see maybe a couple more 30s out there like in Rapid City, and of course, areas around St. Louis and even out towards Cincinnati, we'll start off quite comfortably, and then we'll end the day in the 70s for a good chunk of us. So I think it's gonna be really nice from a temperature perspective as we work our way into our Saturday. For many locations, meanwhile, notice where the warmth is. You can clearly see where that boundary is, whether you're on the coast, you still have a couple of beach days left.
