From Friday evening into Saturday morning, strong storms will bring a chance of power outages and damage from Arkansas all the way to West Virginia.

Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across a broad swath of the United States, stretching from the southern Plains through the mid-Atlantic region. The main threats include damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, and flooding rainfall, with a nonzero risk of tornadoes.

Clusters of storms are currently being tracked in areas including Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, and north of Dallas, Texas. The most significant impacts are anticipated overnight, particularly in central Arkansas and along the I-40 corridor from Little Rock to Memphis, where strong winds could cause power outages and heavy rainfall may lead to flooding.

Chances of severe storms stretch from the Plains to the mid-Atlantic

We're going to be watching for more severe weather tomorrow for I-95 in the afternoon. Some of these storms will be severe, making a lot of noise tomorrow afternoon. Look out there in southeast New England. Damien? All right, Jeff. So yes, we'll be watching out for increasing rain and thunderstorm chances heading into tomorrow, but we're also watching out for some strong to severe storms heading into the forecast for tonight as well. So let's go and take a look at the latest. This is our updated Accuweb exclusive storm zone and storms are gonna be firing from Oklahoma and Texas, and these storms are going to extend all the way in the southwestern parts of P. A. So we're talking thousands of miles of severe thunderstorm chances here as we head into tonight. So overall, the highest potential is gonna be for damaging winds. There's gonna be some damaging hail, even an elevated nonzero tornado threat, but frequent lightning and flooding rainfall gonna be the primary risk we track here for tonight. So as you look at the radar here the last hour, you can see we have three different areas here. We have a cluster of severe storms here from parts of Kentucky into West Virginia. We have a cluster of thunderstorms here from Tennessee in the southern parts of Kentucky, and now we have some severe storms here north of Dallas that we're gonna be tracking as well. So Denton right there is seeing some strong to severe storms, and it's gonna be those three areas that we're tracking. The storm is gonna be moving from west to northeast. So overall, this is gonna be the overall storm motion that we're gonna be tracking, which each one of these clusters, but it's gonna be that cluster there just to the north of Dallas. It actually has the biggest impacts here as we head into tonight. Future track radar is showing that over the next 3 to 6 hours, the storms here across Tennessee and Kentucky will actually have the strongest impact, the biggest impacts with the strongest storms. However, as you look at midnight to 3 a.m., look at how these storms just explode here across central parts of Arkansas. This is where we're gonna see strong winds, winds strong enough to damage trees and power lines. So there will be some power outage potential from Little Rock through Memphis there along I-40 as we head into tonight. And then look at the Mississippi River Valley here as we head into about 6 a.m. This is eastern time, 5 a.m. central time. Look at Memphis. We're gonna see heavy rainfall, strong storms, severe storms moving in with damaging wind and flooding rainfall here as we head into the overnight hour.
