During the meeting, Albanese reaffirmed Australia's support for the status quo on Taiwan and highlighted the need for peace and security in the region. The leaders also discussed ongoing business and trade relations, as well as the case of Australian writer Dr Yong-Hen Chun, who remains in indefinite detention in China. Albanese confirmed that Chun's case was raised, though a resolution has not yet been reached.

Despite differing on some global issues, business and trade are a universal and equally beneficial language. One of the points of contention between China and Australia is the indefinite detention of Australian writer Dr Yong-Hen Chun.
