Trump has announced plans to send Patriot missiles to Ukraine, a request made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, with European allies expected to finance and distribute the weapons. 

Additionally, Trump is considering authorizing new funding for Ukraine for the first time since taking office. There is also bipartisan support in Congress for a bill that would impose significant tariffs on countries continuing to buy oil from Russia. The NATO Secretary General is scheduled to meet with U.S. lawmakers and administration officials to discuss these developments.

Turning now to the war in Ukraine, President Trump is planning a big announcement today to punish Russia after months of unsuccessful efforts to stop the fighting and the heaviest Russian drone and missile attacks so far. The White House has not revealed any details about what President Trump may announce today, but we do know he's making several moves to dial up the pressure on Vladimir Putin. According to the White House last night, the president said he is very disappointed in the Russian leader, who he has accused of throwing a lot of, quote, BS when it comes to ending the war with Ukraine. Trump told reporters he plans to send Patriot missiles to Ukraine, which his president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has been pushing for. They are one of the few defense weapons capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. The president says European allies will pay for and distribute the weapons. CBS News has also learned Trump is considering authorizing new funding for Ukraine for the first time since he took office back in January. Trump is facing calls from congressional Republicans and Democrats to support a bill that would sanction countries that continue to purchase oil from Moscow, like Brazil, China, and India, which would be hit with a 500% tariff on goods imported to the U.S. Today, the NATO Secretary General is scheduled to meet with lawmakers in Washington, along with top administration officials and President Trump, right here at the White House. In an Oval Office meeting, President Trump announced that the US will sell weapons to European nations, who will then send them to Ukraine. The president also threatened new trade consequences if no peace deal is reached with Ukraine within 50 days.
