For the first time ever, some young fans got an inside look at basketball icon Michael Jordan's former Chicago mansion. CBS News Chicago's Marissa Sulek followed a group of 30 young men from the city's South Side who got the surprise of a lifetime.

A group of middle and high school boys from Chicago were given a rare opportunity to tour Michael Jordan's former mansion in Highland Park. The visit, organized by the nonprofit Shy Cook Officers in Motion, aimed to inspire the young basketball players by allowing them to experience the home and court where Jordan once lived and practiced.

The current owner, John Cooper, who purchased the property for $9.5 million, granted the group exclusive access to the mansion's facilities, including the basketball court, pool, gym, and trophy room. The event also included participation from local law enforcement officers, fostering positive connections and encouraging the students to dream big.

I'm stepping on the same concrete that Michael Jeffrey Jordan stepped on. Not just outside the mansion. We're going to tour the house today. We're going to play on the court. But owner John Cooper, who bought the home last year for $9.5 million, is allowing these 30 young basketball players exclusive access inside. It's the place Michael Jordan built and lived in the 90s with his family when he played for the Chicago Bulls. I was like, uh, is it kind of real because who's going to Michael Jordan's house? Price was skeptical this opportunity was too good to be true. Oh yeah, Jordan, why not? They were gifted a free pair of Jordans and got to play on the court of dreams Jordan practiced on himself. This is what this facility probably should have been made to be. I think it's a basketball history museum. And even when we pulled up to the gate and I saw the 23, I just fell out. I still couldn't believe it. Claudia Martin is founder of the nonprofit Shy Cook Officers in Motion. It connects law enforcement and kids to show them violence is not the answer. Some officers got the special access too. What if we could go to Michael Jordan's house? And I started talking with the owner. Not only did the boys get to play here on MJ's courts, but they got a rare exclusive tour of his entire mansion. Inside, the boys got to see Jordan's infinity pool, hair salon, gym, movie theater, trophy room. The list goes on for this nine bed, 20 bath home. If he asked me to spend the night here, I will. I'll live here. This makes me want to work harder so I can so I can live like this and so I'll be able to provide for my future family.
