A shooting incident in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn resulted in a 49-year-old woman being shot in the arm and leg. The suspect reportedly barricaded themselves inside a building, prompting a response from the NYPD and emergency service units, including a hostage team. 

Eyewitnesses saw the injured woman being taken to an ambulance, and she was later reported to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital. The status of the suspect remains unclear as police continue their investigation, and the scene remains active.

Can you walk us through what we know so far? I still see caution tape up and everything. Yeah, that's right, Noelle. The caution tape remains up. Actually, a few NYPD cruisers remain here at the scene, but a moment ago, the emergency service unit and that hostage team, they began to vacate the building. Take a look at this video. You can see them as they began to leave the scene, some of them holding weapons like assault rifles on riot shields. The NYPD and emergency service unit responded to calls of shots fired on the 300 block of ST john place just past 8 30 this morning. We're told the suspect boarded themselves in the building after police say the gunman shot a 49 year old woman in the arm and leg. Eyewitnesses at the scene say they saw what appeared to be that victim running outside and covered in blood. They brought a woman out. She was holding her shoulder. There was blood. She was awake, but they got her in the ambulance and they took her out. And then now it's just, it's just escalating with more detectives showing up. And paramedics rushed that victim to a nearby hospital where they say she's in stable condition. We're still working at this time though to learn the status of the suspect.
