If this were a typical wedding processional, the man walking Chico Fox down the aisle would be her father, a close relative, or even a good friend. Anyone but him. She's a tenant of mine. You're the landlord. I'm the landlord. That's the last person on Earth, I would think would walk you down the aisle. I wouldn't have thought in a million years. Chico works as a makeup artist. Her studio space here in Cincinnati, Ohio, is owned by 79 year old Gil Pulliam, a no nonsense guy, paid rent on time and take care of the building. And yet, as you'll soon see, he can be incredibly tender hearted. Chico never knew her father. She thought she didn't care. Can't miss something you never had. But as her wedding day approached, Chico says she started to feel a void. When I thought about who would walk me down the aisle, trying to figure out what that looks like, the thought of it was like. Surprisingly painful, she said. Of course, Chico never told her landlord that, but he knew her family situation and he had a gut feeling. So I went back up to ask Chico if I could escort her down the aisle and she said, yes, yes, yes, and on and on and on. She got married a couple months ago. The music's playing. I'm getting ready to walk down the aisle. He grabbed my hand so tight and it was a really good feeling. Still is. Yeah, it still is. Like a wound had been healed in my heart. Congratulations. Chico now has a husband, Victor. But she says she also added another family member that day, a father figure who stepped up and stood beside, like all good dads do. I love you, too.
