Organizers stated that the delays were partly due to two drone attacks, though the Tunisian Ministry of Interior described the incidents as premeditated attacks without specifying the use of drones.

Despite these incidents, participants remain determined to proceed with their mission, emphasizing its peaceful and humanitarian nature. The flotilla, supported by donations from Tunisians, aims to deliver several hundred tons of aid, including food, water, and baby formula, to Palestinians in Gaza.

Boats are finally leaving the port of Sidi Bou Said. They're heading to Bin Zert in Tunisia's north, where they will join another group of boats coming from Barcelona. After several delays due to technical and logistical issues, the boats will then deport for Gaza. At the port in Sidi Bou Said, where some boats are still docked, people are impatient to leave. ABDALLAH ABDALLAH, Tunisian Fisherman We waited a lot and prepared a lot. We have attended trainings, and we are ready physically and psychologically. We are only waiting for the final leave. Organizers say that the delays are partly due to two drone attacks that targeted two different boats on Monday and Tuesday night. In a statement released on Wednesday evening, the Tunisian Ministry of Interior spoke of a premeditated attack, but did not mention drones. The attacks haven't discouraged passengers. ABDALLAH ABDALLAH, Tunisian Fisherman This is to break the morale within the participants. It is also to instill fear amongst us, but we want to send a strong message to the apartheid state of Israel, that we will not be deterred. The Flotillis has its focusing on its humanitarian goal and leaving the investigation to Tunisian authorities. DR. NADJA FLOTILLIS, Tunisian Flotillist We all know the scenarios and what could happen. We just have to keep going. We are a peaceful mission. We have no weapons on board. We have baby formula, food, aid, water, and we need to break the siege. In the days leading up to the departure, Tunisians collected more donations for the Flotilla, a significant commitment for those who won't be joining. DR. NADJA FLOTILLIS, Tunisian Flotilla I am very frustrated that I can't do more. So the least we can do is to help these people who are living. We are not sure if we are going to make it. They are risking their lives. So the least we can do is to be in solidarity and help them as we can. The Flotilla aims to reach besieged Palestinians by mid-September. The boats are carrying several hundred tons of humanitarian aid.
