Nobody likes Democrats anymore. Some show Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer saying profane, bigoted things he's never said. Even Latinos hate us. So we meet House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries in a cartoon sombrero and mustache. The administration is playing hardball because they believe that Democrats will crack and give in. But what we're seeing right now, at least early on, is that just simply isn't working. Democrats are still holding steady and voters are blaming Republicans. There's budget director Richard Vaught's announcement on X that he's freezing billions of dollars in transportation projects in Chicago and other Democratic cities. Senator Schumer opted against a shutdown fight in March. That led to calls for him to step down. Now Democratic voters and activists are calling for their leaders to put up a fight against Donald Trump and Republican policies. Democrats are saying they are standing up for Americans who are who are going to be losing health care. And so those 20 million Americans who are at risk right now, they are the ones that are actually pushing Democrats to stand and hold the line. Democrats say they won't vote to fund the government until Republicans restore cuts to health care programs. The American people are crystal clear on who shut down the government, crystal clear. They know it was Donald Trump and Republicans for a wide variety of reasons. Republicans say they're happy to talk about health care costs later. As soon as they release the hostage, then we can talk about those other issues.
