As Hurricane Erin continues to make its way north along the U.S. East Coast, AccuWeather's Jon Porter monitors two developing tropical systems in the Atlantic, which are expected to form this weekend.

East Coast of the United States

AccuWeather meteorologists are tracking two tropical systems currently developing in the Atlantic Ocean. The westernmost system, located east of the Lesser Antilles, has shown improvement and may become a named storm or even a hurricane as it moves north and west, potentially threatening Bermuda. However, current forecasts suggest it will curve away from the United States due to a dip in the jet stream, minimizing the risk to the US East Coast.

A second tropical wave is also being monitored, but it has limited time to develop and is not expected to head toward the United States. While minor coastal flooding from storm surge is possible along the south shore of Long Island and parts of southern New England, no significant concerns are anticipated. Meteorologists continue to closely monitor the situation for any changes.

Two more tropical systems developing in the Atlantic

Was there any new thoughts about Aaron or is everything seems to be occurring exactly the way we thought it would? It looks to me like everything's on track. It does. We just met with our entire team of expert meteorologists working today, debated the latest information and we're not making any major changes. The forecast is panning out exactly as AccuWeather had forecast. We are going to add the risk for perhaps a foot or two of storm surge right along the south shore of Long Island over toward portions of the southern New England, including Rhode Island here as the storm makes its way out to sea. So there can be a little bit of coastal flooding in those areas, but we're not expecting any significant concerns. All right, there we go. Three tropical waves that we're tracking here. The one off Africa we're not too concerned about for being a named system, but the two other ones we're going to continue to watch here and let's let's take the farthest west system, which is now east of the lesser utilities. This looks a lot better than it did this time yesterday. It does. It was fighting lots of dry air and some unfavorable winds in the atmosphere, but it's still relatively disorganized. This is generally going to be heading off to the north and west here, Bernie. So it looks like it's going to go north of the islands here. This could become a tropical storm or even a hurricane out in the Atlantic Ocean and may threaten over toward Bermuda early next week. But this looks like it's going to be curving away from the United States. Yeah, it's it's in a pretty good spot at the current moment from a wind shear perspective. But you can see that light light purple there, but some darker purple tonight. But we do think that this has the ability to become a named storm Friday into the upcoming weekend. That's why we have a high risk with this. That's correct. Now. Now, question is, where is it going? And once again, John, big dip in the jet stream coming into the eastern U.S. Sunday into Monday. We've got a pretty good confidence on this one that that once again is going to protect the U.S. East Coast. So this storm will will anything that does develop will curve toward the out into the Atlantic Ocean and should not be a United States threat. All right. Here's that second tropical wave, John. But it has limited time to develop here. Doesn't look like there's anything right now occurring here. But we we have this highlighted for the next 48 hours.
