Are they going to impact your operation and what do you make of him wanting to give back to farmers President Trump it? Yes, the tariffs have impacted us our commodity prices have dropped low It is desperately needed that President Trump do hand us off some some of that tariff money We need it badly, but we've also have other issues in my region We've had bad weather issues and we've and and the main problem that needs to be addressed Also that President Trump also spoke about last week was skyrocketing input cost and those need to be addressed as soon as possible Also Wow. Okay. Well, we're so grateful for American farmers. They keep us fed I mean, it's such a key role And so it's nice to see that President Trump is at least hoping to alleviate some of these expenses that you're facing We mentioned it's off the top that China has stopped buying u.s. Soybeans turning to Argentina and Brazil instead As a corn producer yourself, are you or other farmers you represent concern that China might do the same thing with corn? Oh You know, we are we are Concerned about all these trade negotiations we need to open up markets But I believe that President Trump has a game plan for that. I do support his thoughts In the long run. I believe what President Trump's doing is going to fix a lot of issues We're having out here in farm country in the short term, though I stress that we are hurting and we are gonna need some aid. Yeah, absolutely Senate Majority Leader John Thune He sits on the Agriculture Committee described the dilemma that farmers are facing with meet the press yesterday Want you to listen this I'll get your reaction on the other side Well, look I think that the Farmers I represent a lot of them and they want nothing more than open markets There are markets right now that aren't open to some of our commodities as a consequence of that there We've got a big harvest coming in here in South Dakota corn and soybeans and no place to go with it So what the president has said is I'm gonna support and I'm gonna help our farmers And so we're all we are looking at I'm a member of the Senate Ag Committee have been for some time And we're looking at potential solutions to make sure that we can help support farmers until some of those markets come back All right So there's his reaction to that how much of an impact with the open market make if you're able to get your products to other places Well, it would help substantially but in the short term as I keep saying we are in desperate straits out here in farm country And we're gonna need a bridge to get us get us renewed We're done harvesting here in Texas where I'm at and We're about to go in and renew our lines for next year and we're carrying over debt from previous years again Not all from you know, low commodity prices. It is bad weather It is skyrocketing input cost our input costs are up For instance my seed over the last five years is up 24% Nitrogen fertilizers of 40% our starter fertilizers of 88% chemicals up 100 I can keep going down the list But we have to get those issues solved right now and fast That's what's really crippling us out here Sure, and could you explain are those costs that you just mentioned are a lot of those are those? Foreign imported or are those local that are still seeing the the increased pricing? There they are imported and and domestic also and we need to dig in and figure out what's going on there There's a lack of competition out there right now on our inputs that we're purchasing Real quick Kendall does that tractor behind you does it run and or is it just for decoration? No, sir, that that truck was bought in 1954 by my granddad brand-new My dad and I restored it He he matter of fact dad was born in 54. So it's very sentimental to all of us.
