The audience, initially filled with cheers, soon turned to prayers, with many believing divine intervention had prevented an assassination attempt. Trump announced Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate, highlighting Vance’s rise from an impoverished childhood to a best-selling author and Oscar-nominated figure.

Vance, a former Marine, admitted that he was initially sceptical of Trump in 2016 but later changed his mind, describing Trump as a great president. Vance's addition to the ticket is seen as a strategy to garner support from the military and the white working class. Additionally, Elon Musk has pledged a substantial financial contribution to Trump’s campaign, reported at US$45 million per month.

The convention also saw a historic moment with the Teamsters union, traditionally aligned with Democrats, taking the stage in support of Trump. The sentiment in the room was overwhelmingly pro-Trump, contrasting with the reported dissatisfaction among some Democrats with their own presidential candidate, Joe Biden. Trump received unanimous state-by-state endorsement for his candidacy as the nominee for the 47th President of the United States.
