It's just common sense to make sure they're armed. Trump's testing out a model in Washington he says could expand to other Democratic-run cities, including Chicago. They say, we don't need him. Freedom, freedom. He's a dictator. He's a dictator. A lot of people are saying maybe we like a dictator. I don't like a dictator. I'm not a dictator. I'm a man with great common sense and I'm a smart person. Then came the president's strongest sign yet he plans to expand the military's role across the country. Is that a good sign? Seriously, is that a good sign? The president showing off a new executive order to create specialized units of National Guards to respond to a crisis or event if local and state authorities aren't free or are too overwhelmed. I am concerned that this is just an effort to deflect attention from other failings of the administration. I worry that it is a way to exert power. Trump is now warning that he can deploy the military anywhere in the U.S. within 24 hours. Ashley, I hear you about those members now being armed, but how is the role of the National Guard potentially going to change now? Well, Adrienne, many of these troops are not full-time soldiers and in the past they've often been deployed to natural disasters and occasionally some cases of civil unrest. But what this executive order appears to do is create a force of these soldiers that the White House can deploy at any time for all kinds of situations and that's raising all kinds of legal concerns.
