The U.N.-backed body monitoring global hunger has reported that starvation in Gaza has reached the highest and most severe levels, with conditions marked by starvation, destitution, and death. Despite Israeli government claims and video evidence suggesting an abundance of food, the U.N. maintains that Israel has sharply restricted aid deliveries, leaving vulnerable populations, especially children, at high risk.

Well, a statement from the Israeli prime minister's office has called the United Nations declaration of famine in parts of Gaza as a quote, outright lie, denying there's any starvation in the besieged Palestinian territory. Denials that are in direct contradiction to what multiple UN bodies, more than a hundred humanitarian aid groups, and now several of Israel's own allies who have all said the starvation in Gaza is a quote, man-made catastrophe. It seems like this, the United Nations secretary general has called a quote, failure of humanity. As far as the eye can see, desperate Palestinians seek aid in Gaza City and surrounding areas. Where a UN backed body, which identifies hunger levels around the world has said starvation here has reached the highest and most severe conditions. Conditions which are characterized by quote, starvation, destitution, and death. The Gaza famine is the world's famine. It is a famine that asks, but what did you do? A famine that will and must haunt us all. This undated and highly edited video just released by the Israeli government claims to show an abundance of food across Gaza. A claim echoed by the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who posted on social media, quote, tons of food have gone into the devastated Palestinian territory. But the UN insists Israel has sharply restricted the amount of aid for Gaza, which can be seen loaded onto trucks that sit just yards away. And it's the smallest and most vulnerable who continue to pay the highest price. Like Ashraf's daughter, Ghadir, who died on Friday morning. I went to aid agencies all over to try to get her some milk, but there was none, he says. You can see she was just five months old, but is only the size of a newborn baby. Born with cerebral palsy, aid agencies say sick infants like little Ghadir are the first to die from hunger. Now, the last time famine was declared by the UN was in South Sudan in 2017, Jerica.
