President Donald Trump delivered a politically charged speech Wednesday carried live in prime time on network television, seeking to pin the blame for economic challenges on Democrats while also repeating his claim of having ended "eight wars" in ten months.

I've restored American strength, settled eight wars in ten months, destroyed the Iran nuclear threat and ended the war in Gaza, bringing for the first time in 3,000 years peace to the Middle East and secured the release of the hostages, both living and dead. Here at home, we're bringing our economy back from the brink of ruin. The last administration and their allies in Congress looted our treasury for trillions of dollars, driving up prices and everything at levels never seen before. I am bringing those high prices down and bringing them down very fast. In the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the US proposed a 20-point peace plan in early October. Although it led to a ceasefire and releases of hostages and prisoners on both sides, the US-led plan has not yet fully been implemented. In addition, Israel continues to regularly violate the ceasefire by launching attacks against the Gaza Strip.
