Although Tropical Storm Imelda is forecast to be pulled out to sea, the Southeast coast should still be on alert for impacts. Gusty winds, heavy rain and coastal flooding are all concerns as Imelda passes offshore.

Tropical storm Imelda is forecast to bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall to the southeast coast of the United States, particularly affecting areas such as Jacksonville Beach, Daytona Beach, and West Palm Beach. Wind gusts may reach up to 40 miles per hour, and onshore flow is expected to increase the risk of rip currents along the coast.

Rainfall associated with the storm could result in up to an inch of precipitation inland, with the heaviest rain likely to remain offshore. Authorities are monitoring the risk of flash flooding, especially from Monday through Wednesday, as the storm progresses across the region.

These winds will continue to gust as we go in through Monday. We'll see this as we go into your Tuesday as well. Jacksonville Beach, we could see those gusts up to about 35 to 40 miles an hour. So we do have to watch the changing of directions, especially when we start to get more of that onshore flow, that northeasterly flow. And with that, we will be dealing with those rip currents out there as well. As this goes into motion, we start to see again this moving across the Bahamas, putting plenty of rain across the area, but also look at all the rain that continues to lash the coast of florida there. Daytona Beach beginning in on this action, West Palm Beach. But again, the heaviest rain looks to stay offshore, but we can see what's going on here. Even inland, we could see maybe upwards of about an inch of some rainfall coming in as we go through your tomorrow through your thursday. This is something that we will continue to watch. But regardless of what's going to be happening, we do have to watch the flash flooding monday right into your Wednesday.
