Caitlin Adams, competing in her first marathon, won the women's race with a strong performance. The event attracted close to 60,000 participants, who ran into the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground and were cheered on by spectators. Many runners took part for personal reasons, including raising over $45,000 for Beyond Blue, and standout performances included 87-year-old Stuart MacArthur completing the marathon in under three hours. The marathon remains a major highlight on Melbourne's sporting calendar.

One of the biggest events on the sporting calendar started early and with a bang. From beer cans to bananas, thousands crossed the finish line with smiles on their faces. I'm just here to support bananas, getting good amounts of potassium and just getting out there and having an amazing race. Buggered. I'm buggered. Sorry, I can't talk. I've just come straight from Tiesto. I've beat the final boss. Great run, great turnout. I'll do it again next year. For others, the event meant more than just running. I was running for myself through everything I've been through over the last couple of years and that was crossing the finish line was just massive. We raised well over 45 grand I think for Beyond Blue which is just unbelievable. Eve in Melbourne's own weather presenter Jade Kotick clocked a sub four hour marathon. A huge achievement. I actually didn't think I could do this, especially once you get past the 30km mark. Close to 60,000 competitors had the privilege of running into the MCG, being cheered on by hundreds in the stands in one of Melbourne's most iconic events. But perhaps the star of the show was Stuart MacArthur, showing that age is just a number. Hearing all those people cheer for you down the homestretch, what was that like? Wonderful. I'm pleased to get here under three hours. Fantastic. We've got a sore back. 88 next week. So I'm pleased. Pleased as buggery. Are you going to run next year? I hope so.
