Authorities in Hickman County, Tennessee, have confirmed that no survivors have been found after an explosion destroyed a military explosives plant. The number of people inside at the time of the blast remains unclear, but at least 16 individuals are still reported missing. The incident has shifted from a rescue mission to a recovery effort, with more than 300 personnel searching the facility. 

Officials have stated that small, controlled explosions are being conducted to stabilize the structure, and the investigation is now being led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The local community has gathered to mourn and support affected families as recovery efforts continue.

CBS is Nicole Valdez is there and joins us for the latest. Nicole, what can you tell us tonight? It is unclear how many people were inside when that plant exploded. At least 16 people are still reported missing, but that number could change. This disaster has gone from a rescue mission to a recovery effort. At some point in time, we've got to rip off the band aid. Sheriff Chris Davis choked back tears, confirming the worst. More than 300 people have been through almost every square inch of this facility. At this time, we've recovered no survivors. The blast happened Friday morning at this military explosives plant. Today, officials warned small, controlled explosions would be needed to stabilize the structure. An ambulance and medical helicopter standing by as a precaution for investigators working near the site.
