Tens of thousands of supporters assembled in Douala to hear presidential candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary speak ahead of Cameroon's election. Despite waiting for hours in the rain, attendees expressed strong backing for Tchiroma, who represents the Cameroon National Salvation Front.

Tchiroma, arriving from rallies in other cities, urged the incumbent president to concede if defeated and warned against electoral fraud. He also denounced threats from the current administration and called on electoral authorities to ensure a transparent process.

In Douala on Sunday, tens of thousands of residents gathered behind the esplanade of the Omnisport Stadium in Bependa to listen to presidential candidate and former minister Issa Chiroma Bakary. Despite eight hours of waiting and rain in Cameroon's economic capital, supporters were not discouraged. They promised to cast their vote for the candidate of the Cameroon National Salvation Front. He is so beloved by the Cameroonian people and I don't think we've ever seen a crowd like the one today. Everywhere he has been, in every city he has visited, Douala has seen the largest turnout in Cameroon today. I think this is a great testament to the Cameroonian people's support for Issa Chiroma Bakary, to whom we promised a 100% victory on October 12th. Issa Chiroma arrived in Douala like a rock star, surrounded by a sea of people. He came from rallies in the English-speaking cities of Buea and Limbe and addressed the crowds waiting for him along the way. Issa Chiroma also urged the outgoing President Paul Beah to acknowledge his defeat on the evening of the upcoming election. You will call your opponent, who was chosen by the people, to say, Mr President, I concede defeat. Congratulations and today you will go down in history. For the audience, this was a historic effort that will need to be confirmed in the ballot box. All we want is for us to all vote for the same person on October 12th and for us to monitor our votes and check our ballots so that on the evening of the 12th we can proclaim our own victory and that President Chiroma becomes President of Cameroon. That is why we have come to support him. The candidate took the opportunity to denounce the threats he has received from the current administration. He went on to warn the territorial administration, the electoral commission and the constitutional council that the people will demand his victory by any means necessary in case of fraud on the evening of October 12th.
