U.S. President Donald Trump's battle with Democratic-led cities is heating up after 200 California National Guard troops have been reassigned to Oregon, despite a judge blocking the deployment to Portland.

President Donald Trump has authorized the deployment of National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon, despite a temporary restraining order issued by a federal judge. The judge, appointed by Trump, expressed concerns that the deployment could blur the lines between civil and military federal power. 

Trump justified the action by citing ongoing protests and the need to protect federal workers and property. Protesters and local officials have disputed the necessity of the deployment, with the state of Oregon planning to challenge the decision in court after federal troops from California arrived in the state.

But Trump went ahead anyway, sending troops to Oregon from California instead. The judge's order was not some minor procedural point for the president to work around like my 14-year-old does when he doesn't like my answers. Trump justifying what he's doing by pointing to ongoing immigration-related protests. Saying troops are needed to protect federal workers and properties, but protesters dispute that. They are being painted in some press outlets and by Donald Trump as agitators, as people who don't belong here, who are causing violence. And nothing could be further from the truth. These demonstrators say they were pepper sprayed. I couldn't get air into my lungs. I think that was probably one of the scariest parts. After federal agents shot a woman in Chicago, who authorities say rammed into a law enforcement vehicle, Trump's homeland security secretary said this. This is a war zone. Illinois' governor firing back. They are the ones that are making it a war zone. They need to get out of Chicago. But there's no sign the president's backing down. The state of Oregon plans to return to court to challenge Trump's latest move after about 100 federal troops from California already arrived. Ashley Burke, CBC News, Washington.
