More than 4,000 cyclists participated in the 31st annual Tour de Bronx, a free cycling event offering routes of 10, 25, or 40 miles through the borough. Participants included local residents and officials, such as the Bronx Borough President. The ride started on 161st Street at Grand Concourse and concluded at the New York Botanical Gardens. Organizers advised the public of multiple street closures and directed those seeking more information to the event website.

So today, those cyclists are going to enjoy this free cycling event here in our city and specifically in our borough. Riders can choose from a family-friendly 10-mile, 25-mile, or the big one, the 40-mile route. Customers range, or riders I should say, range from our very own Bronx Borough President to residents like Edgar Arzu, who could not contain his excitement for the biggest bike race in the borough. Yesterday we went to pick up the part of the equipment. We went to pick up the shirts, my number, okay? And I'm ready. I'm ready to go. Good luck to him and everybody out there. The riders will begin at 6 this morning on 161st Street, Grand Concourse, then finish at the New York Botanical Gardens. There will be multiple street closures, so plan ahead before you head out.
