Following this extensive voyage, the ship embarked on an 18-stop Mediterranean tour, visiting cities such as Civitavecchia, Livorno, and Genoa, where the tour will conclude during the Navy's holiday.

Commissioned in 1931, the Amerigo Vespucci continues to function as a training ship for Naval Academy officer trainees, offering them a unique experience of sailing and life at sea. The ship has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors, serving as a living testament to Italy's maritime history and culture.

After more than a year and a half at sea on a round-the-world voyage that began in Genoa on the 1st of July 2023 and visited five continents, 30 countries and 35 ports, the Amerigo Vespucci, the Italian Navy's oldest ship, set sail from Trieste in March for an 18-stop Mediterranean tour. After Civitavecchia, the most beautiful ship in the world will sail to Livorno and then Genoa, where it will conclude the Mediterranean tour on June 10, on the occasion of the Navy's holiday. But what does it mean to go around the world aboard the Amerigo Vespucci as a captain? It's a huge privilege to do a single job. It doesn't happen every day. The Amerigo Vespucci has been in service since 1931 and is still a training ship for Naval Academy officer trainees. Every summer at the end of their first year, they come aboard for a unique experience between sailing and life at sea. Among them is the ship's current commander. Between its global and Mediterranean voyages, hundreds of thousands of people have come aboard the ship, which continues to share its story of the sea and Italy.
