Amiri arrived in Doha after his release and expressed gratitude to the Qatari and U.S. governments for their roles in securing his freedom. This release follows the recent freeing of a British couple from Taliban custody and marks the fifth American released from Afghanistan under similar circumstances. U.S. officials, including Adam Baller, President Trump's special envoy for hostages affairs, acknowledged the importance of Qatari mediation and indicated that further negotiations for additional releases are ongoing.

Qataris and others, all the United States, the government of Doha, to release us. So, I mean, how was your feeling when you knew that you are going to be released? Oh, my God, you don't ask. If you're asking, like, a person beyond the hell, I mean, you can go outside, see on the world, and I'm really happy. Al Jazeera's Ali Hashim reports from Doha's international airport. This is the fifth American that's been released from Afghanistan. Also, last week we saw a couple of British couple released. And of course, still, there are a lot of talks going on for the release of more. We met Amir Amiri and Adam Baller, both of them are officials in President Trump's administration. And we spoke to them about the moment Amir expressed his gratitude to the mediation. And he was very happy to see freedom after nine months of being detained. He looks forward to go back to the United States and meet his family. Also, we spoke to Adam Baller, President Trump's special advisor, special envoy for hostages affairs. And he spoke about the Qatari mediation and how this facilitated the release of Amir. They're looking forward to more releases in the coming weeks or months.
