Michigan officials say they will file terrorism charges and 11 charges of assault with intent to murder against the man who allegedly carried out a knife attack at a Walmart on Saturday. Lana Zak reports.

A 42-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing 11 people at a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan. The incident occurred when the suspect, identified as Bradford Gilly, entered the store with a folding knife and attacked people in the checkout area. 

Authorities responded within minutes, and bystanders, including one armed individual, intervened to stop the attack. Gilly now faces a terrorism charge and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder. While a motive has not yet been determined, officials have noted the suspect's prior history of assault and substance violations. Most victims have been released from the hospital, with only two remaining in serious condition.

We begin tonight in Traverse City, Michigan, one day after what should have been a normal trip to the local Walmart turned into a day of terror for shoppers. A man entered the store and began attacking people randomly with a knife. 11 people were hurt, and tonight the 42-year-old suspect is in custody and awaiting arraignment. CBS's Lana Zak is there with new details. Lana. Good evening, Jerrica. The sheriff tells me that a deputy was here on the scene at Walmart just three minutes after calls first came in. Now their attention is turning to motive. Cell phone video shows witnesses confronting the suspect. One with a gun drawn, as others tend to the victims of a stabbing attack inside a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan on Saturday. Everyone that came to try to stop him or tackle him, he started slashing, and he cut nine or 10 people. 42-year-old Bradford Gilly was taken into custody within minutes, according to the sheriff's office. Mr. Gilly's history shows prior assaultive incidents as well as controlled substance violations. A motive has not yet been determined. Investigators say Gilly entered the store armed with a 3 1⁄2-inch folding knife and waited roughly a half hour before stabbing 11 people in the checkout area. Tonight, hospital officials tell us one of the victims has been discharged, and only two remain in serious condition. Our trauma team made special mention of the care that was rendered in the field by witnesses at the scene, but particularly our first responders that arrived on the scene. And the aid that they were able to render, their expertise, their training, their clinical decisions and triage were nothing short of life-saving. Life-saving, they saved lives out there. Yes. Well, Gilly now faces a terrorism charge and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder. Local prosecutors say he could face a judge as soon as tomorrow. Dorica. Lana Zak, thank you.
