It was quite the celebration Monday at the New York Stock Exchange. Raucous applause and cheers as the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted the wish of Utah's own Kate Hewlett from Parowan. You just got back to Parowan after your really exciting trip to New York City. Tell me about that. I went and I rang the bell on the New York Stock Exchange. And you can feel just how thrilling that was for Kate and his mom Sandy. And the national non-profit behind it says they were surprised at what he wanted. Not a trip to Disney or to meet a sports legend, but coming here to Wall Street. I understand that's not the most common wish to be requested. Yeah, it's not. When Kate first made his wish to ring the bell at the New York Stock Exchange, he shared that he had a strong interest in finance podcasts and in investing. It was something that like not a lot of people get to do. That was fun. It was really cool. It was amazing and emotional. Did it live up to your expectations? Yeah. Both Kate and his mom say it was so much more than they could have ever expected. And they've been looking forward to this moment for a long time, taking them through some tough days over these last few years. When he would have a hard time, we would talk about his wish and he was excited. It gave him a lot of hope and something to look forward to. Kate was just 13 when he was diagnosed with cancer. May of 2023, he first showed symptoms. Headaches that wouldn't go away. And then an ER visit and blood work showed Kate had leukemia. We're at the local hospital in Cedar City and they transferred us up to Primary Children's Hospital and we've been going up there, I think we're pretty close to 70 times. They're taking the more than three-hour drive each time, but Kate said no matter what challenges they faced in this journey, they never let it get them down. I think that if you just have a positive mindset that you can really do anything. Hoping that attitude will help others going through something similar. In fact, Kate wore a gold tie and a gold ribbon in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, bringing that message front and center at an important moment watched around the world. Still taking oral chemo treatments daily, but strong enough for this, inspiring us all. I met like a trader and meeting the president of the exchange and it was really cool. A lot of excitement on the floor, Kate just rang that opening bell and U.S. stock markets are officially open for trade. As for what's next for Kate and DeBell, he's really excited about ringing. His mom says that's the bell at Primary Children's when he marks the end of his cancer treatment there. It's been a long road to get to this point. That's set for October 23rd and we wish him the very best on the road ahead and maybe another trip back to the New York Stock Exchange in his future career.
