A ship named the Madeline, carrying 12 activists and humanitarian aid, is approaching the coast of Gaza to challenge the ongoing Israeli blockade. The activists, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, emphasize that their mission is peaceful and focused on delivering essential supplies such as medical equipment and baby formula, which are currently restricted from entering Gaza.

This journey follows earlier attempts by activists to break the blockade, including the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident and a recent flotilla vessel reportedly hit by Israeli drones. The mission highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the lack of international political action, with civilians taking significant risks to deliver aid.

It's a bold journey with a clear goal, to challenge the Israeli blockade of Gaza by sea. Twelve activists are on board the Madeline, named after Gaza's first fisherwoman. Their destination? A sliver of land sealed off by sea, air and land for nearly two decades. This isn't the first time activists have tried. In 2010, Israeli commandos stormed the Mavi Marmara, part of a similar mission. Ten activists were killed. The raid drew international outrage. And just last month, another vessel in the flotilla was reportedly hit by Israeli drones in international waters. Activists were forced to turn back. We are also very nervous about what the IDF and the Tel Aviv regime will do when they arrive. This boat contains equipment that the Israelis will not allow into Gaza, crutches, baby formula, painkillers, antibiotics. The Madeline set sail from Sicily, charting a route across the Mediterranean. Now, it's approaching Gaza. We don't want any harm to come to these people. This is a humanitarian mission, doing what the rest of the world should be doing, including the EU, the European community where I'm from, and we are trying to break the siege that under international law, the EU should be doing, and they're not. They're shirking their responsibilities, and their time will come. Among those on board is Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. We have made it very clear from the beginning that we are 12 peaceful volunteers who are not carrying weapons. We are carrying humanitarian aid. We will not be responding in any violent way. We are sailing on international waters, which is our right to do. So again, if someone, IOF or allies with Israel decides to attack us, then it is just another example of the disrespect of international law and human rights. Whether or not the flotilla reaches Gaza, the message is already clear.
