After morning rain, severe storms should get going late Tuesday afternoon across Arkansas and Oklahoma first, expanding into Texas tonight. Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes will be possible in places like Tulsa, Little Rock and Fort Smith. Make sure you have a way to receive warnings while you are sleeping.

Meteorologists are warning of severe storms with all hazards in play, including the possibility of tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail of at least one inch in diameter. The atmospheric conditions, such as changing wind direction with height and a strong jet stream, are contributing to the risk of severe weather as a boundary moves southward.

Areas around Fort Smith and Tennessee are specifically mentioned as being at risk, with the potential for multiple rounds of storms throughout the day. Residents in affected regions are advised to remain vigilant and monitor for updates, as the situation may evolve but is not expected to change abruptly.

all hazards in play. Some of you may even be in a tornado watch today, all right? So be on the lookout for that. That's certainly a possibility as we go on through the afternoon and into this evening. There, as I said, all hazards. Damaging winds, inch diameter hail or greater, okay? Maybe even a tornado or two because you've got changing wind direction with height coming into this boundary. The jet stream is aloft right over this region, so speed shear, vertical wind shear, which is the change in wind direction with height, and of course that's going to give us these thunderstorms as this boundary drops down toward the south. Corcon numbers are three at this point. We'll see if SBC changes any of this. I think this is a pretty good start. I don't think you're going to see big abrupt changes to all this, but certainly this is the spot to watch, I think, for the best severe potential today, and that means all hazards, not necessarily just tornadoes. But you can see some hail cores here around Fort Smith, these strong storms, almost in a couple of line segments. Don't count out Tennessee either. I think they're going to be in for it too with perhaps the second round of the day coming up later on this afternoon.
