Additional events include the Tunnel to Towers Foundation 5k in Tempe, a memorial ceremony in Gilbert featuring beams of light symbolizing the Twin Towers, and the Salt River Firefighters 9-11 Memorial stair climb in Scottsdale to honour first responders. These tributes provide opportunities for the public to pay their respects and remember the lives lost.

Tomorrow we remember the 3,000 lives lost 24 years ago during four coordinated terrorist attacks in the U.S. September 11th attacks will forever be etched in our history and tomorrow there will be several tributes taking place to honor those who died. The largest memorial is the annual Tempe healing field at Tempe Beach Park. Volunteers are putting up nearly 3,000 flags to represent each person who died that day. They'll be on display through next Monday so you can go there you can pay respects. At 7 p.m. there will be a candlelight vigil with the reading of the names and then on Sunday Tempe will host the Tunnel to Towers Foundation 5k. Gilbert will hold its annual memorial ceremony at its 9-11 Memorial Plaza that begins tomorrow night at 630 and after the ceremony two beams of light will be projected into the sky symbolizing the fallen Twin Towers in Manhattan. And on Saturday Scottsdale will host its annual Salt River Firefighters 9-11 Memorial stair climb. This is held at the Salt River Fields baseball stadium and it's to honor the firefighters, the police officers and first responders who gave their lives that day. The goal is to climb up and down the stairs to cover the equivalent of a hundred and ten stories the height of the World Trade Center. The opening ceremonies begin at 630 p.m. with the stair climb beginning at 7.
