There was, and it's still unclear who pulled the trigger and assassinated Charlie Kirk. Investigators say it appears that the shooter acted alone and that this was a targeted attack. On Wednesday, the FBI director, Kash Patel, said law enforcement had someone in custody suspected of the killing, but hours later said that person was released. As Carter mentioned, a university official told CBS News they believe the shot was fired from an academic building across the courtyard from where Kirk was speaking, roughly 200 yards away. But here, in cell phone video from inside another campus building that's been zoomed in, you can see a dark figure on that rooftop. And officials say they're reviewing security camera footage from the school that shows a person in all dark clothing who is believed to be the shooter, but the quality of that footage is quite limited. A university police investigator says the department had been coordinating with Kirk's private security team for the event, drew an estimated 3,000 attendees. In the hours after the shooting, police went building to building to evacuate students from the campus and get them away from that shooting scene. FBI agents are helping lead the investigation to find the shooting suspect. The Salt Lake City field office has set up an online form for the public to submit tips.
