While the government highlights its efforts to admit injured Palestinians from Gaza, protesters argue that the number—about 150 people—is insufficient and call for greater action.

It's part of their worldview, fight for human rights, fight for rights in general. Another important thing is the fact that the Catholic Church, obviously very strong in Italy, but also has outposts in both the occupied West Bank and in Gaza. However, important to mention that what you're seeing right now in the streets is not reflective of the official policy of the Italian state, the right-wing government of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni. She is a huge ally of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the government would say that they have done more than other European nations to take in injured Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, which is true. But when you speak to people in the streets here, they say that number is still shamefully small, about 150 people in total.
