Some remembered in solitude, others in the embrace of family. At times, the grief was still so raw. Over the past two years, the site has been transformed from a scene of brutal violence to a memorial filled with pain. Israel has also changed. The unity in the days after the attack giving way to anger. Many Israelis blame Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to bring all the hostages home. Idan Ganam's cousin Yosef Ohana is still in captivity. We can't move on. We can't. This is not the same life that we had before the October 7th. We thought that it will be maybe a month, maybe a couple of days, but two years, no. Yesterday, the community of Nir Oz came together in song and prayer. More than a quarter of its 400 residents were killed or abducted. On that day, Erit Lahav was hiding with her daughter in their safe room. We were holding hands and we thought, that's it, these are our last minutes. We just said loving words to each other, like goodbye words. Gaza is just a few miles from Nir Oz. It was plunged into a devastating war following the Hamas attack. Over 67,000 people have been killed and huge swathes of the territory have been destroyed. Talks to end the war and bring the hostages home are gaining momentum in Egypt. Tomorrow, the senior officials are set to arrive, including Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Prime Minister Netanyahu's top advisor, Ron Dermer.
