The attack has also complicated relations with the United States, as President Donald Trump has attempted to balance reassurances to Qatar with criticism of Israel's actions. Peace negotiations have been halted, with Hamas postponing its response to a U.S.-backed proposal due to the Israeli strike.

Al-Thani warned that Netanyahu's actions killed any hope for the hostages still being held in Gaza. In the aftermath of the attack, regional leaders have shown their support as the president of the UAE and the crown prince of Jordan flew to Qatar on Wednesday. Doha plans to host a summit in the coming days to decide on a collective response as the Israeli prime minister doubles down on his actions. And I say to Qatar and all nations who harbor terrorists, you either expel them or you bring them to justice, because if you don't, we will. The attack has created a fresh headache for U.S. President Donald Trump, who has sought to reassure Qatar, which hosts the largest American military base in the Middle East, while criticizing Israel's actions, saying it does not advance American and Israeli interests. In the meantime, the peace negotiations have been halted. Hamas had been due to give its answer to a proposal put forth by the U.S. before Israel launched its attack.
