Tropical moisture from the remnants of Priscilla and Raymond will bring a multiday flood threat to the Desert Southwest that lasts through the middle of next week.

Moisture from the remnants of tropical systems Priscilla and Raymond is moving into the southwestern United States, raising the risk of flooding in typically dry regions. The influx of tropical moisture is expected to bring heavy rain across areas such as Arizona, Colorado, and southern Utah, with the possibility of mudslides.

Rainfall is forecast to intensify, affecting locations from the Grand Canyon to Tucson and potentially causing widespread impacts. The wet conditions are expected to persist for several days, with flood threats continuing into the start of the week.

Priscilla, Raymond moisture to fuel Southwest flood risk

As we go through Saturday we're talking three to five for some of these areas that are normally pretty dry. Between the two of them all this tropical moisture basically moves on in to the Baja of California into the southwest trough of low pressure picking up some of that moisture so even though they won't be tropical in nature any longer, no longer tropical you know named storms, we will have that tropical moisture that could lead to flooding, heavy rain. We've had light rain in Flagstaff as well as Phoenix which only gets heavier as we really start to feel that tropical moisture moving on in by later on tonight. Look at how widespread that rain is top to bottom in Arizona from the Grand Canyon to Tucson. We're also talking about Colorado and even southern Utah. We could easily see some flooding here, mudslides not out of the question. There's your flood threat tomorrow, Sunday even into Monday we're still going to be dealing with a very wet system.
