A police operation commenced in Liverpool, New South Wales, just before 4:00 PM, where officers intercepted a white hatchback at traffic lights outside a shopping centre on George Street. Video footage captured by bystanders showed the public order and riot squad detaining at least four people, who were handcuffed and searched on the road.

Police have stated there is no ongoing threat to the community but have requested that the public avoid the area to allow officers to continue their work. Further details about the incident are still emerging as the investigation continues.
