Community members have been notified, and local leaders are speaking out after a parent was detained by immigration enforcement near an Encinitas school.

A parent was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) near Parkdale Elementary School in Encinitas, California. The incident, captured on video, shows immigration officers taking a man into custody while his daughter calls out to him, and bystanders request he be allowed to say goodbye.

The Encinitas Union School District notified parents about the incident, which occurred a few blocks from the school. State Senator Catherine Blakespear and U.S. Congressman Mike Levin have publicly condemned the arrest.
