A Palestinian-German humanitarian initiative, headed by engineer Khader Al-Astal, is providing critical aid to Gaza, where the population faces acute shortages of medical supplies, nutritional supplements, and essential equipment. The group, which includes doctors and engineers, is working closely with health workers in Gaza and the Palestinian Red Crescent to deliver items such as antibiotics, painkillers, wheelchairs, and a large water desalination unit.

The initiative has previously supported projects like digging wells for displaced families and is now contributing to the construction of a medical clinic. According to the UN and the World Health Organization, Gaza has seen a significant rise in child amputees and over 5,000 amputations since the war began in 2023. The team is also working to bring injured children to Germany for treatment while expressing readiness to assist in Gaza's reconstruction.

Engineer Khader Al-Astal is leading this Gaza aid initiative. He's Palestinian-German and has lost 50 relatives in the war. Some of their bodies remain under the rubble. When I try to call my family, I don't get an answer. I can't talk about Gaza. It is too hard. With the help of doctors and other engineers, Al-Astal has been coordinating with a health worker in Gaza who's been assessing the situation. There's an acute shortage of antibiotics, painkillers, nutritional supplements and treatments for cancer patients as well. For example, my mother has cancer, and we can't get her the needed dose, nor can we evacuate her from the Gaza Strip. The aid includes a variety of equipment and medicine. Among the supplies are protein-based nutritional supplements, respiratory support equipment, wheelchairs primarily for people with disabilities, crutches and a large industrial water desalination unit. According to the UN, Gaza now has the highest number of child amputees per capita in the world. The World Health Organization says more than 5,000 people in Gaza have faced amputation since the war began in 2023. The German-Palestinian initiative is coordinating with the Palestinian Red Crescent to send aid. Previously, they've launched projects to help people in Gaza, including digging a water well for displaced families. They're currently contributing to the construction of a medical clinic. We are fully ready to participate in Gaza's reconstruction with all our resources, offering consultations, working on the ground, even going to Gaza ourselves, all voluntarily of course. Palestinian-German doctors are also working to bring injured children from Gaza to Germany.
