The recent escalation included missile strikes launched by India against Pakistani air bases, which was followed by Pakistan conducting counter-offensives targeting Indian military sites. The fighting, considered among the most severe between the two nuclear-armed nations in recent decades, led to the displacement of families, particularly in Pakistan-administered Kashmir where shelters are limited.

Also a sigh of relief in Pakistan administered Kashmir when the news of a ceasefire came through. Many families have moved from here. They didn't have bunkers or proper shelters here so they had to move out. Now we have heard this news and we welcome it. People are angry over what many see as an Indian attack on Pakistan's sovereignty on May 7th. Ahead of the ceasefire, India launched missiles against Pakistani air bases on Saturday and Pakistan carried out a counter offensive targeting Indian military sites. The US broker deal stipulates a broader dialogue where Pakistan and India will discuss peace building measures. On Monday, the heads of military operations will talk again. The hope in Pakistan is of a revival in diplomacy and uninterrupted flow of water from the Indus River. What clearly is a generational issue between Pakistan and India. So the beautiful thing is that there is a ceasefire that now exists and we look forward to hopefully managing more conversations and having this endure. And that enduring peace remains a big question mark. This is some of the worst fighting between the two nuclear armed neighbours in decades and issues such as Kashmir and the Indus water are likely to keep tensions alive.
