I don't want to say that I wasn't sure that it would go on like this. It could have gone on like this, but my expectations were not only met, but surpassed in terms of this meeting today. While they heaped praise on Trump for his commitment to security guarantees, they also stressed the importance of putting pressure on Russia. President Trump believes in his ability to reach an agreement. He also believes that President Putin wants such an agreement of peace. I congratulate him and I want to believe that we will reach an agreement. But if this process is rejected, we all agree that we will have to increase the sanctions and have a position that puts more pressure on the Russian side to return to the negotiating field. NATO Chief Mark Rutte told Fox News that U.S. and European leaders were discussing Article 5 kind of security guarantees, although details remain vague. First, we need to have full clarity collectively, U.S., the Europeans and the others in this coalition of the willing on what security guarantees will mean. And again, it is really a breakthrough that the U.S. will get involved. And then again, the level of involvement will now be discussed. European leaders also expressed support for a possible trilateral meeting between Trump, Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. They stressed that while they were working towards a just and lasting peace, a temporary ceasefire ahead of such talks should not be off the table.

As Hamas reportedly agreed to some ceasefire terms that would include the return of more hostages, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered troops to take more of Gaza.
