Tropical Storm Fernand is passing well to the east of Bermuda and will likely weaken late Monday before becoming post-tropical midweek. Invest 99L has become more disorganized and development is now unlikely. The tropics will stay quiet this week, but there are some areas that bear watching.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) continues to monitor Tropical Storm Fernand, which is exhibiting increased convection and signs of circulation. The storm is experiencing northwesterly wind shear and appears to have peaked as it moves away from land and out to sea.

Looking ahead, forecasters are watching for possible weather developments in the Caribbean and off the west coast of Mexico in early September. The Climate Prediction Center is expected to update its outlook, providing further information on areas of interest for potential tropical activity.

We've still got Fairnon, which looks like it's trying to get some convection around the center or at least close enough to it. What does it look like on the visible? I kind of like looking at the visible this morning. And this is a very deep burst of convection here. And you see these streamers coming in. So you kind of get the idea, you know, somewhere in here, you know, maybe we've got ourselves a little circulation. So I think it's a little closer to the deep convection. We've got about 10 knots of northwesterly shear. It looks like it's peaked out, though, and it's heading out to sea. Now, going forward toward the first part of September, CPC, and they'll update this again tomorrow, too. So we'll have a fresh look at what they are thinking, has these areas that we're watching. Then September 3rd through the 9th, maybe something in the Caribbean or off the west coast of Mexico here that bears watching.
